English Serfdom & American Slavery by Lucien Chase 1854

From H Long & Brothers.  English Serfdom and American Slavery or Ourselves as others see us by Lucien B Chase.  This is a very difficult book to find- it is one of the "Anti-Tom" books- pro-slavery books written in response to Uncle Tom's Cabin.  This is the original from 1854 which is seldom seen.  259 pages, some dirt- last page has a piece missing on corner (does not affect text).   Name on ffe lightly in pencil.  Some bumping- the main condition issue with this is the spine paper- it needs repair- it has a little bit missing on the top and bottom of spine, then the part that is there is split down the left side of the spine and cut across multiple times so the spine paper is flapping in a number of pieces- needs some work.  That being said,  this is an important book as a response to the abolitionists, and is rarely found.
